BioSun® Light Therapy

What is BioSun®?

Developed in Germany in association with leading dermatologists, BioSun® is a light therapy which uses the latest technology in light physics to bring you and your skin a totally unique experience. BioSun® units are currently in operation in hospitals and spa centres in continental Europe.

How does it work?

Natural sunlight contains not only beneficial but also potentially harmful rays, from ultraviolet to infrared.

BioSun® technology uses a sophisticated series of light reflectors and filters, which enables the selection of an extremely narrow band of the light spectrum (380-440 nm) for treatment purposes. This narrow indigo/blue section of light is the foundation of the BioSun® therapy.

BioSun® is unique worldwide in its fine delivery of this indigo/blue light and is unlike any other device available on the market today.

It has been demonstrated that, for a number of skin types and skin complaints, BioSun® produces anti-inflammatory and healing effects. Eczema and acne have shown themselves to be particularly responsive to this light treatment. Many users also report an improved skin texture.

Open Unit

BioSun® has developed an “open” unit, with a distance of around 70 cm between the couch and the overhead light source. As there is no lifting or lowering of overhead sections, you will not feel sandwiched or claustrophobic. An integrated and adjustable air-cooling system gives you a breezy South-Seas sensation during the session, so no unpleasant ‘hot and sticky’ moments!

Responsible use

Before your first BioSun® therapy session, you will need to fill out a questionnaire. The information given helps one of our trained therapists determine the length and frequency of sessions needed to establish a treatment programme suited to you and your requirements.
